About
Bio:
Dimitrie Stefanescu is in his second year of master studies at the Hyperbody department of the TU Delft Faculty of Architecture. Enjoys coding and gin&tonic during summer.
His interests lie mostly in debunking the computational conundrum that seems to have struck architecture and urbanism since the advent and possibly immature assimilation of digital technologies into the practice of the avantgarde. Furthermore, while actively pursuing and using performative parametric/algorithmic approaches in his projects, he is also trying to distribute attention and thought to different theoretical problems that now arise from the implementation of these techniques. In this respect, the acute lack of rational critic and mature introspection that this emerging trend is suffering from, not to mention the superficial treatment of societal and aesthethical issues, proves to be the to the detriment of what, some argue, will be the future of architecture – by either offering sterile (formal) experiments or by alienating practitioners and students from the true benefits of computational approaches. The paradigm shift originating in science has propagated through philosophy and finally shaped architectural tools as well – yet it still has to crystallize in a working architectural way of thinking.
Employment:
If you feel like giving him a job, please don’t hesitate. He can “do” architecture, as well as teach some scripting (RhinoScript, Grasshopper (and C#), Processing) if you feel like having a workshop.
